This hands-on training is addressed to a wide audience, from newcomers, introduced to basic installation and configuration of Debian GNU/Linux or basic techniques in biotech/biomedical research,  to highly skilled IT or biomedical professionals trained to design and execute biomedical experiments or implement enterprise scalable, high performance,  virtualization/cloud computing solutions.

The courses are progressive in nature, enabling newcomers the opportunity to build practical, effective skills which have useful and measurable output at all levels.

We employ almost exclusively Free/Libre Open Source software and Open Access know-how. This affords attendants unique portability for both, tools and skills acquired with us. Professionals and students, beginners or experts, employee or employers are in constant move. The ability to use these tools anywhere in the world translates to versatility and adaptability.

We provide computers and materials for all attendants. However, we highly recommend to everyone to attend GNU/Linux 101 and install Debian GNU/Linux into your own computers. Then you can use your own computer in virtually all courses we provide.

Tens of thousands of Free/Libre Open Source applications are available to be used, modified and distributed freely for any purpose - domestic, commercial, educational, public administration. The range of software is wide and includes office applications (word processing, presentation, spreadsheet), to 2D image processing, or video editing. This lectures cover practical aspects of the ubiquitous OpenOfffice.org suite, GIMP bitmap image processing and InkScape vector image. The multimedia section will cover hands-on audio editing with Audacity, video editing with KDENLive, and  web broadcasting with VLC. Millions of websites run Apache HTTP web server.  You will be enabled to install, configure and troubleshoot Apache Web Server, ProFTPD server and Cyrus IMAP/Postfix mail server.  New comers will build and design a multiple basic webservers/sites, while seasoned IT professionals will deploy scalable, cutting edge content management solutions, optimized for publishing and business flow.   Prerequisites are basic GNU/Linux skills you learned in Linux 101 (install Debian GNU/Linux), Linux102 (Configure a LAN), and Linux103 (Server Virtualization).
